Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party candidate, in the Kibra by-election, Bernard Otieno Okoth, alias Imran, held a mega rally in DC ground in Makina ward, Kibra, on Sunday.
Thousands of residents thronged the field as the Orange candidate took the opportunity to campaign for himself.
Imran was accompanied by other ODM leaders including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Dagoreti North Legislator Simba Arati, Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris, Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang among a host of other leaders.
The Orange Party legislators snaked through the streets of Kibra in a convoy of vehicles before coming to a stop at the DC ground.
His rally comes barely a day after Mariga’s convoy was pelted with stones on his way to Bukhungu in the same ward.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, left scores injured sparking uproar among Jubilee leaders who accused the ODM party of the attack.
Lang’ata Member f Parliament Nixon Korir, while speaking at PCEA Emmanuel Church in Makina on Sunday, said he will petition the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to disqualify the ODM candidate.
The Orange Party is seeking to reclaim the seat that fell vacant after the death of the Late MP Ken Okoth.
Imran, who is a brother to the late MP, is facing stiff competition from Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga and ANC’s candidate Eliud Owalo.
Over 20 candidates have been cleared by the IEBC to contest for the seat.
The by-election is slated for November 7.
Our day in Kibra this afternoon. The incoming MP Bernard Otieno Okoth received a warm reception from his employers to be. He was factual and on point on what he wants to do for the people of Kibra. Indeed he is the man they are waiting to install as their MP on 7/11/19. pic.twitter.com/dYPlL358P5
