A sworn affidavit by Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) officer probing the death of Jubilee MP’s sister who was found dead in a washroom at her house in Wembley Estate in Ruiru indicates that the deceased might have taken her own life.
The 41-year-old Jane Murugi Mukuha, sister to Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago Mukuha, was found dead on Friday.
According to the affidavit sworn by the investigating officer Patrick Okumu, on that fateful day, Ndolo called a neighbour at around 5 am and told him that the wife had committed suicide by hanging n the washroom.
The neighbour thereafter called the police who found the deceased half seated on the toilet bowl. Her neck was tied up loosely to a window grill by a piece of cloth joined with a necktie.
Also, Okumu on his affidavit indicated that a liquid substance was found in a cup placed on a sink in the washroom where the body was found.
The liquid is also subject to investigation.
In addition, a report by the Standard indicates that a police source privy to the postmortem done on Saturday informed the news website that the deceased committed suicide.
Though the post-mortem report is yet to be made public, further report of the affidavit by the DCI officer raises eyebrows.
According to Okumu, the CPU of the CCTV, in all appearances, was interfered with and when the husband Stephen Ndolo Kioo claimed that the password to the gadgets was known only by the deceased.
Furthermore, the house help, when asked whether she knew or observed anything, she kept mum.
Okumu told the court on Monday, that the two suspects gave contradicting statements thus the need to comb through their mobile phones, which are already with the DCI-cyber crime section, for analysis.
“The duo’s story of events are inconsistent hence more time is needed to carry out thorough interrogation, investigate their call data, messages and get the results from government chemist,” said Mr Okumu.
Though the two suspects, husband and house girl Violet Nafula, still remain in custody over the death of Mukuha for five more days, the autopsy report will perhaps clear the air on what happened.
