MCSK responds to artistes outcry over peanut royalties. The agency was accused of squandering the money they collect on behalf of Kenyan artistes.
Where it all started!
On 14th August, Kenyan artistes led by the self-proclaimed OG Papa Jones furiously reacted over what they termed as peanut royalties from Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MSCK)
Khaligraph Jones sparked social media after he shared a screenshot of the Mpesa transaction from MCSK indicating that he had received Sh. 2,530
His post evoked other artistes such as Willy Paul, King Kaka, Fena, Gidi, Stevo Simple Boy, Ringtone Apoko and many others who also shared screenshots of what they had received from the agency.
They threated to storm MCSK offices and demand their legitimate pay if the society will not remit all their earnings.
After a day of outcry from artistes, MCSK responded claiming that Khaligraph Jones has does not follow up on updating playlist with MCSK and that was the reason behind the peanut pay.

“@khaligraph_jones Doesn’t update us on his new Music, that’s why he is missing out on Royalties”
The response from MSCK did not satisfy Kenyans as they came out demanding that artistes must be paid;
Stupid man lipa wasanii pesa yao
