Its been revealed that Nation’s Managing Director in charge of Broadcasting has exited the Media House after resigning from his position.
Alex Kobia moved in to the replacement of Linus Kaikai who left NTV for Citizen. Kobia’s last day of work is reported to be on June 22.
He holds a Masters in Science from the University of Liverpool.
He joined the Group in 2018 from Aljazeera Media Group where he was the Head of Sales and Distribution, Sub Saharan Africa.
He has previously held senior positions at Aljazeera, African Media Group Limited (AMGL) in Tanzania, TV Africa in Kenya & Uganda, Sanyu Television in Uganda and Kenya Television Network (KTN), Kenya.
During his tenure at Al Jazeera, Kobia worked as the head of sales and distribution in Sub-Saharan Africa.
NMG has undertaken a minor restructuring following Kobia’s resignation.
In changes announced by NMG CEO Stephen Gitagama, Justus Tharao (production and programming operations) and Betty Kuremwa (commercial) will report to him until a substantive replacement is identified.
Emmanuel Juma will continue to report to the Group Editorial Director Mutumas Mathiu while Martin Mwaura (technical) and Nickson Kirwa (marketing) will report to Tharao.
In 2017 Aggie Konde who had been at the Apex of NTV resigned as Managing Director of the Serena Hotel based Station to join Msingi East Africa Limited as an appointed Chief Executive.
At the time Nation Media was undergoing restructuring that saw some employees at both monitor publications and NTV relieved of their duties.
Aggie Konde had been at the helm of NTV for Five years from crown beverages replacing Joe Munene but her tenure had been marred by controversies which actually almost saw half of reporters joining rival stations while others opted for other ventures.
