A sad fate has knocked on the door of disruptive teachers who have been suspended the Teachers Service Commission for disrupting and boycotting training on the new Competence Based Curriculum.
160 teachers among them 10 union officials have been served with interdiction letters.
In the letters signed by the respective county directors, the affected teachers have been given 21 days to show cause why they should not be fired on grounds of violating rules and regulations in the TSC Act.
“Before the commission proceeds to consider and determine your case… You are invited to make a defense statement/Response to the commission within 21 days from the date of this letter,” reads the letter in part.
The interdiction is effective May 5, 2019.
In the meantime, those who are officeholders are required to vacate their positions immediately.
TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said stern action would be taken against members of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) who interfered with Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) training sessions.“The commission will not allow any teachers or union officials to raid training centers and disrupt ongoing training,” said Dr. Macharia.
Professor George Magoha promised he would do all it takes to make sure the new curriculum is implemented.
