New Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai was given a not-so-rousing welcome to the GSU headquarters Tuesday morning.
Mean-looking men in uniform who had been manning the GSU headquarters had as usual barricaded the gates to inspect the convoy that had arrived at their gates.
On taking a closer look, the soldiers quickly noted the cars had accompanied IG Hillary Mutyambai and his small team of officers.
The Inspector General was to later be accorded a short quarter guard by mean-looking soldiers in the headquarters.
He would later to inspect the guard of honor before proceeding on a familiarization mission with the GSU bosses.
Mutyambai took the oath of office on the 8th of April much to a full in-tray of transformations to be achieved in the nest 100 days.
Mutyambai took over from the former Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet who is hailed to have foiled a number of attacks in the country from the Al-Shabaab militants.
Boinnet’s only failure is perhaps the killing of more than 100 KDF soldiers in ElAdde after militants overran their camp.
Another trial occurred in January when a group of terrorists invaded the Dusit D2 Complex and killed some 21 people including foreigners.
