‘The Europa League is a three-horse race.’ That’s the view of the bookmakers at least, who have priced three teams ahead of the rest as the competition reaches is homestreatch.
Both English sides Arsenal and Chelsea have given themselves a chance of lifting some European silverware, and with it a place in next season’s Champions League, regardless of where they finish in the Premier League table.
But with Arsenal handed a tough draw against Napoli in the last eight, it is Chelsea who are the favourites for the competition. Italian side Napoli are just second favourites, with the Gunners in third.
Arsenal legend Martin Keown, alongside Jamie Redknapp and Chris Sutton, was asked during a Daily Mail Q&A who would win the three pieces of silverware still up for grabs this season.
And the Gunners fans will not be pleased with what he has said.
Keown responded: “I can see City lifting the FA Cup. The Champions League is trickier. Anyone of the four English sides left in could win it but I’ll go for City. Chelsea for the Europa League.”
The Gunners legend has picked the Blues over his former club to lift the trophy, which would put more emphasis on Unai Emery guiding Arsenal to a top-four spot.
“City for the FA Cup and Chelsea the Europa League but I have a feeling that Juventus will win the Champions League,” said Redknapp, while former Chelsea striker Sutton said: “Chelsea should win the Europa League.”
