The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has closed Naivasha-Mai Mahiu highway following scary fault that resulted from 4.8 magnitude quake on Sunday.
On a statement to newsroom, the authority has directed that drivers to use Kamandura-Limuru-Kinungi-Naivasha highway instead.
The highways authority also cautioned those operating heavy commercial vehicles to strictly adhere to the directions provided by the traffic police.
“The Naivasha-Mai Mahiu highway is currently not safe for motorists after the Sunday earthquake caused huge cracks on a bridge near Fai Amarillo factory, about eight kilometres from Naivasha-Mai Mahiu bound,”the statement read.
The authority stated it had dispatched engineers to the affected area to assess the damage caused and take appropriate action.
βThe traffic police have been deployed to the site to direct traffic on a detour of the road section that has been created to facilitate traffic flow,β the highways authority said in its statement.
KeNHA now want motorists to watch out and e careful.
