Police in Navakholo, Kakamega County are looking for an administration police officer who shot dead his lover following a domestic row.
Patrick Apala, an AP officer based in Navakholo, killed Catherine Mahonga, a teacher at Navakholo Secondary School, at their Duka Moja home on Thursday night.
The officer took off after killing his wife who is a teacher at Navakholo secondary school. Residents later protested over the killing and blocked police from collecting the body.
They demanded that the police produce the killer before being allowed to pick the body. Police had to disperse the rowdy residents before collecting the body, which they later took to a morgue
The cause of the couple’s fight remains unclear.

Mr Apala has another woman in Navakholo, who his relatives know to be the police officer’s bonafide spouse.
The suspect and the deceased are parents to a 3-year-old girl.
Navakholo Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Tanui confirmed the incident.
“We don’t know how many bullets the officer may have discharged but police officers are at the scene,” Onyango said.
