After being honored by many across the globe because of her efforts to conserve the environment by spearheading planting of millions of trees the late Professor Wangari Maathai has once again bagged another international recognition.
As a result of her activism efforts, Maathai became the first woman and environmentalist to bag the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize award in 2004.
Kenya has honored her by naming a road after her but France has taken it an extra mile. They have named a whole school after the late Professor Wangari Maathai probably what she actually deserves and much more from home.
In the United States of America, a statue of an image resembling the professor was unveiled and now France have launched a public school, Ecole Wangari Maathai which is a public elementary school situated in Aubervilliers area.
The Nobel Prize Laureate is celebrated for while many others continue to be planted in her absence as a result of the initiative.
In September 2011, the Laureate and professor succumbed to ovarian cancer at Nairobi Hospital aged 71 years.
