President Uhuru tried a hand in French as he welcomed Macron in the country.
French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Kenya on Wednesday afternoon for a historic visit, as this is the first-ever to the country by a President of France.
President Uhuru Kenyatta received Mr Macron at State House in Nairobi, where he inspected a guard of honour ahead of their talks.
Kenyans commented on the post, some of them making fun on Uhuru’s choice of language.
“Oui. Monsieur le corruption is le kulaing ze legacy. et la France wanajua. Make corruption le Big ONE,” noted @bpmasinde.
“I hope hakuna kitu inapotea brathe (My brother, I hope nothing will get lost),” wrote Michael Adundo.
“Hii Loan unaomba France utalipa mwenyewe. Ata ugeuze lugha, tunajua ni loan unaomba(You will pay the loan you are borrowing even if you change the language)” stated Keyser Souze.
Macron’s main agenda is to sign a series of agreements with Mr Kenyatta as Paris eyes reasserting its influence in the eastern Africa region.
The agreement concerns the Nairobi Central Railway Station, energy projects, plant health programmes and the Big Four Agenda on food security, universal health coverage, affordable housing and manufacturing.
Bienvenue au Kenya Macron!!
