Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has urged elected leaders to maintain high levels of integrity and be a true reflection of integrity, transparency and accountability if we are to reap the fruits of devolution as a nation.
The Governor’s remarks comes at a time when the war against corruption has been pushed closer to the door steps and aims at rooting out all the corrupt officials in efforts to clean the system.
The Governor was speaking during the 6th Annual Devolution Conference
in Kirinyaga County when he presented his views as the Council of Governor’s Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee Chairperson during the “Governance and Accountability” session.
The Kilifi governor Amason Kingi also mentioned that calls for elected officials to resign if implicated in wrongdoing and corruption must be across the board, and not just applied to governors.
He also added that Institutions mandated to fight corruption must hold every public officer accountable to ensure efficient service delivery which will permeate development to the grassroots level.
