Michal Prasek, who illegally kept a lion in his backyard has been killed by the nine-year-old animal. He was found dead in his lion’s cage at his family home in Czech Republic.
According to BBC, the 33-year-old victim’s lifeless body was found by his father. Prasek owned a nine-year-old lion and a lioness he used for breeding. He reportedly purchased the lion in 2016 and the lioness later in 2018.
The deceased had reportedly built separate pens for the lion and lioness. The authorities who reported to the scene had to shoot dead the animals in a bid to access Prasek’s corpse.
“The police had to shoot two lions in order to get to the man who was with the animals,” police spokeswoman Lenka Javorkova said .
According to Reuters, Prasek would often invite his neighbours to his backyard whenever they wanted to see the animals. The victim and his pets had drawn concern among local residents and was previously denied permission to build the pens for the lion and lioness.
