Uganda Police is having in custody five people attached to BBC World service, among those in detention is BBC’s Kenyan investigative journalist Kassim Mohammed, Godfrey Badebye, and Rashid Kawesa and their driver Shafiq Kisame who were arrested in Makindye.

Police are also detaining Vivian Serwanja who is the Public relations officer at the Ministry of Health and is a wife to NBS Tv’s investigative journalist Solomon Serwanja who is also wanted by detectives.

The arrest stems from the three weeks in the investigations of alleged sale of Uganda drugs that was commissioned jointly by BBC and NBS T.v to expose the rot in the ministry of Health.
NBS Television together with the BBC are currently working with relevant authorities to secure the release of those arrested. #NBSUpdates

The journalists are still detained at Central Police Station of Kampala and police has confirmed their arrest, journalists and other people across all domains have take to social media to condemn the arrests.
