They say once beaten twice shy. It seems Kenyans have taken the law into their own hands, since last weeks terror attack at 14 Riverside Drive.
Investigations into the attack, in which at least 21 people were killed by Al Shabab revealed that one of the masterminds Ali Salim Gichunge lived at the upmarket Mucathe estate in Kiambu where he interacted freely with neighbors.
Kenyans are now on high alert, about potential terrorists in their midst and will smoke out any suspicious person. On Tuesday, Anti-Terror police arrested A foreigner suspected to be linked to terrorist activities in Iten Town.
The police were notified by locals that the man had no identity documents and is believed to have been engaging in suspect activities in the region. Security in the region has been beefed up since the Dusit attack.
Unfortunately, the suspect’s name was Abiwahab Hassan Hussein. Not all Muslims are terrorists but so far all the terrorists who have attacked Kenyans have been associated with the religion.
Abiwahab will be remanded for seven days as police complete investigations. Eldoret senior principal magistrate Harrison Barasa allowed the police to hold him saying it is a sensitive matter. The magistrate asked the police to ensure they finalise the investigations and return the suspect to court.
“This is a sensitive matter. We have just suffered a terrorist attack in the recent past and it would be offensive for this court not to allow the ATPU to carry out investigations as required,” Barasa said. The magistrate directed the case to be mentioned on January 29.
