“There is a lot of talk about the disease called Jakadala, which, according to rumours, has terrible signs. Already, a surveillance team is out to ascertain facts. “What we currently know is that the disease has been named after a popular musician. What we have are rumours, but we are not taking chances,” stated Health Executive Isca Oluoch. Fear of the disease was further fueled by claims that up to five patients had been admitted and were being treated for the strange disease.
Some medics narrowed down on a private hospital located in Awendo in which two of the patients had reported signs of the disease. “We called the administrator of the hospital and the clinical officer and they were not positive. Our team will start from there,” remarked Oluoch according to the Star.
The rumors were however started after Migori County Referral Hospital admitted a patient who was suffering from cancer of the penis. The disease was reported to have affected the areas of Awendo, Komito mines in Rono sub-county and Kuria, Suna and Nyatike areas.
