Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has sent out his condolences to the family of the former Kilifi Deputy Governor Kenneth Kamto after the reports that he was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his residence in Nyali, Mombasa County.
According to the police, the ex-governor was waylaid by three gunmen who shot and killed him as he entered his home.
The reports also revealed that the gangsters had covered their faces and they demanded money from the former deputy governor before they gunned him down.
Several politicians have spoken to condemn the act and urged the police to probe into the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
Amason Kingi eulogized Kamto as a selfless and able leader based on his service as Deputy Governor during Kingi’s first term.
“It is with deep sorrow, shock and utter disbelief that I have learnt of the death of Hon. Kenneth Mwakombo Kamto who was shot dead by unknown people at his home in Nyali early today.
On behalf of the County Government of Kilifi, I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of the late Kamto and assure them that we will stand with them” he said
The body has been taken to Pandya Memorial Hospital Mortuary awaiting for the burial plans from the family.
Police have launched a probe to unravel the motive of his murder and a manhunt for the gunmen who are still at large.
