‘Armed’ Raila Odinga supporters surged in anger after their kingpin was accused of nepotism following the former Kenya Prime Minister’s decision to appoint his daughter Winnie Odinga as his assistant. The image of the two emerged while attending a meeting in South Africa on Monday 29th October morning raising concerns among hawk eyed Kenyans.
Famous and controversial blogger Robert Alai did not make matters better as he sensationally claimed that the ODM leader is a waste of time for the people and implied that the new appointment was not helpful to the people. The supporters came out guns blazing in what threatened to be an exchange between Raila Vs Anti-Raila battle..
Raila's assistant in his new appointment is his daughter, the incompetent but blindly greedy, Winnie Odinga. A complete waste of time and effort. Will achieve NOTHING!!! pic.twitter.com/2pL4SgYOdU

While some questioned the capacity in which the daughter appeared in the meeting, some vehemently defended the ODM leader insisting that he was not a government officials and was not subject to scrutiny like everyone else. From hilarious to utter rude comments, Kenyans flooded online either to defend ‘Baba’ or attack him in equal measure.
Raila was holding a press conference in what is his second senior assignment in his recently named capacity by the African Union as the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa. Confirming the appointment during his speech at the Madaraka Day Celebrations, president Uhuru said the position came after the recent handshake between the two leaders.
Any position baba- Raila Odinga takes ends up huge..Just look at the media invite..The son of Odinga is a big man with a big heart, we denied a big a man a chance to make Kenya even bigger.. Always far better than the guy who went to the US plus his PhD friend combined pic.twitter.com/IMmEQY318m

Uhuru hired his nephew Jomo as his PA, Kaguta employed his wife, son and relatives to senior government and military posts, Trump daughter and son in law are the President's top advisors. Raila is just following the script.

“As we build strong infrastructure and human capital, I am confident that Africa will accelerate and sustain higher economic growth. But, growth that enriches only the rich is not what we want. We must ensure lasting peace and stability, that requires shared prosperity.” he said in his past assignment a week ago at Duke university.
His speech came at a time where Kenyans seem to be giving up in the war against corruption and the challenge is how to sustain optimism in an environment where many have lost hope. With his new appointment, and commitment a section of Kenyans have reacted saying that speeches are not enough only action and implementation is what will change the country and the African continent at large.
What’s your take?…. or have you caught feelings as well? Lets have a discussion; nepotism or just work?
