Murang’a County governor Mwangi Wa Iria is experiencing the toughest time with the irony facing him over water shortage in the county.
Murang’a’s Ndakaini dam supplies close to 80% of water to Nairobi city but the county still experience water shortage.

The county boss has now suggested a 25 % levy on Nairobi county which he has threatened to cut supply if the levy is defaulted.
This has seen a bitter exchange between him and Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko over the past week that saw them throw threats against each other.
Sonko threatened to bring down Wa Iria’s buildings in Nairobi which he claimed stands on a road reserve, and Wa Iria could not withstand the threat but dared him to go ahead.
The 25% levy on water supplied to Nairobi has welcomed a lot of reactions from Kenyans on Twitter, with some questioning if the levy will supply water to Murang’a homes.
The quest about Murang’a owning the biggest water supply dam as it lacks water for its people has also been brought up, awaiting answers from the county boss.

The Members of Murang’a County Assembly have been seen backing up their boss on the levy issue, but are they just going wrong?
The county needs a supply of piped water to homes to just end what looks like a water scandal in the county.
#NdakainiDeclaration Governor Wa Iria should realise taxing Nairobi will not bring piped water to his people. He needs to put in place the structures that will ensure the delivery of the scarce commodity to the locals

According to the county government, the water levy imposed to Nairobi County is intended to improve water connectivity in the County.
The Murang’a people on Monday met to show their support for the Ndakaini declaration themed ‘our water our oil’ in an open forum.
