It seems Raila Odinga’s decision to force NASA legislators to agree with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s proposals to the Finance Bill 2018 have not been met well with some of his close friends and family members.
NASA MPs, shockingly announced that they will support the President’s proposal to reduce VAT on petroleum products from 16 percent to eight percent.
The backing came after a three-hour meeting at Orange House in Nairobi, chaired by Mr Odinga. And now Raila’s allies have come out to distance themselves from the decision which set to substantially raise the cost of living.
NASA strategist David Ndii, a key Raila ally said that he did not offer any advise to Raila on the fuel levy issue. My position on Jubilee mismanagement and plunder are a matter of public record.
I have not advised anyone on VAT. My position on Jubilee mismanagement and plunder are a matter of public record. As I wrote here last week @Ukenyatta is now stuck between the hammer of the markets and the anvil of politics. Apambane na hali yake.https://t.co/mbgqbfdMnF https://t.co/9ZRrzsXdCs

As if that was not enough, Raila Junior, also publicly disagreed with his father on the move and asked his MP to shoot down the bill.
‘I am unconvinced by the statement put out by NASA on the VAT on Fuel, non of the conditions they’ve put up are measurable and even if they were they are nowhere near closing the deficit on the debt.’ Junior posted on his Twitter handle.
Unfortunately as a Kenyan citizen, I am unconvinced by the statement put out by NASA on the VAT on Fuel, non of the conditions they’ve put up are measurable and even if they were they are nowhere near closing the deficit on the debt. I call for my MP @okothkenneth to reject.

Earlier on, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also revealed that he does not agree with ODM’s stand on the bill. Babu posted a cryptic message on his Twitter handle.
Kenyans first!
