Bayern Munich president finally decides on Boateng’s future

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes Jerome Boateng will stay with the Bundesliga champions for the 2018-19 season.

Boateng has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Hoeness said earlier this month that the chances of a deal happening were “50-50”.

The Germany defender has told Bayern of his intention to leave but PSG have bolstered their defence with the signing of Thilo Kehrer from Schalke.

And Hoeness now believes Boateng will be with Bayern throughout their first campaign under new coach Niko Kovac, who has said he wants to keep the centre-back.

Boateng played the second half of the game as Bayern ran out 4-0 winners against Schweinsteiger’s MLS side Chicago Fire at the Allianz Arena. A versatile defender, Boateng primarily is a centre-back, although he can also play as a right-back. Physically strong and composed in possession, he has garnered a reputation as a tough-tackling defender, with good passing and an ability to read the game, and is considered to be one of the world’s best at his position.

Boateng is a Ghanaian German and was born to a German mother named Martina Boateng and a Ghanaian father in Berlin. He has never been to Ghana. He is the younger, paternal half-brother of fellow professional footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Boateng is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Sherin Senler. Boateng and Senler have two children together, Soley and Lamia; twin girls born on 8 March 2011. The pair separated for a couple of years following allegations of Boateng’s infidelity, but they reunited in November 2013. Boateng allegedly had an affair with model Gina-Lisa Lohfink, although both Boateng and Lohfink have denied ever having an affair.
