ODM leader Raila Odinga, over the weekend, accused President William Ruto of being the puppet of western countries after the government authorized the importation of Genetically Modified maize without public participation.
According to the former Prime Minister, the President is promoting foreign biotechnology and he has now demanded that government provide the research relied on before the authorisation.
Ruto’s government through the Ministry of Trade had announced that the country will allow the importation of 10 million bags of genetically modified maize.
The veteran politician argued that President Ruto is working for foreign nations and their multinationals against our interest as a nation and he now wants the state to revoke the GMO decision until Kenyans have discussed the topic.
However, in a rejoinder, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit back at Raila telling him President Ruto’s administration has no time for his advice.
Gachagua who did not directly respond to the GMO debate said the government was on the right track in delivering services to the people.
Do you think President Ruto is a puppet of the West as alleged by Raila?
