Uganda’s Top Govt Official Receiving Treatment in Nairobi; I Will Beat You Even if You Gang Up, Ruto to Opponents & Gideon Moi to Drop His Presidential Bid After Uhuru’s Advice

Good morning,

As we approach the highly anticipated 2022 elections, one of the key unknowns is the man or woman set to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as the de facto Mt Kenya region kingpin.

The coronation of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi as the region’s spokesperson has ignited a heated debate dividing the once compact GEMA community into two groups, Mt Kenya East (Ameru and Aembu) and West (Agikuyu) as leaders try to weigh and measure their political influence and strength.

Once rumored that Deputy President William Ruto was behind Muturi’s coronation, it has now emerged that Muturi’s crowning was planned and orchestrated by bigger forces from behind the scenes.

According to pundits, the close political relationship between Speaker Muturi and President Uhuru Kenyatta could be the driving force behind the function that had a heavy security presence.

The big question now is whether Muturi has the ability to unite the region that has previously voted as a bloc since 1992 to win presidential elections in 2002, 2007, 2013 and 2017. Or is this the start of the split that will eventually see GEMA lose the added advantage of unmatched tyranny of numbers?

One thing for sure is that the region will have an unprecedented challenge of picking the best candidate of the highest caliber who is worthy to carry the regional flag of leadership to the satisfaction of all residents.

Meanwhile, here are the stories making headlines on Opera News today:
