Raila Might Be Allowed to Use ‘Baba’ Nickname in 2022; Photos of Beirut Explosion Shows Extent of Destruction as Death Toll Doubles & 62-Year-Old Grandmother Sentenced to 35 Years in Jail

Good morning,

For the seventh time, the Senate has failed to find consensus in the County Revenue Allocation (CRA) formula stalemate that has rocked the house and proved to be a political hot potato.

A highly motivated Elegeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen proved to be the voice of reason after he moved a motion to adjourn the debate to give dialogue one more chance, a move that was supported by 34 of his colleagues.

Murkomen, who was unceremoniously kicked out of his Majority Leader role, showed what the ruling Jubilee Party was missing on the floor of the house with his unequivocal debating skills after he managed to rally a majority of senators, a fete that his successor Samuel Poghisio and Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata are struggling with.

The Elgeyo Marakwet representative is undoubtedly scoring major political milestones and once again showed he is not a pushover.

Moreover, the emerging camaraderie between himself and his Nairobi and Makueni counterparts Johnstone Sakaja and Mutula Kilonzo Jr respectively is also proving to be a force to be reckoned with and slowly becoming endeared to the public.

Could these youthful leaders be the hope of the long-overdue crop of leaders we have been hoping for to stand for the right thing regardless of their political affiliations and tribal alignments?

Here are the stories making headlines on Opera News today:
