They say necessity is the mother of invention and a Kirinyaga Mpesa agent has proven just that.

During these uncertain times when Coronavirus pandemic is attempting to wipe out the population of the earth, one Danson Wanjohi has come up with a solution that has received praise countrywide.

Danson is an M-Pesa agent based in Mwea, Kirinyaga County and his ingenious innovation is a money-sanitising machine to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

In making the machine, Wanjohi used wood, plastic, a motor, a rubber band and gears which enable the note to move in and out of the machine.

His timely invention comes at an opportune time when the Ministry of Health is calling for reduced cash usage as the virus is transmitted through such objects.

“We came up with the idea to create this machine so that we can protect people from this Coronavirus,” explained Wanjohi.

His machine has chased away some customers who were in a rush but he believes in the saying that prevention is better than cure, so he keeps going.

The machine has garnered praise from impressed fellow Kenyans. Below are some of their reactions.
