Nairobi Takes Lead in New Covid-19 Cases as Numbers Surge to 607

CAS Rashid Aman giving the daily covid-19 brief on the 7th of May, 2020 has revealed that out of 632 persons tested, 25 people have turned positive now bringing to 607 coronavirus cases. 22 are Kenyan while one is ugandan, another Tanzanian and one Chinese national.

Eastleigh estate has recorded -9, Umoja -1 kawangware-2, parklands -2 ,south c -1 , and Juja road -1, riruta-1, likoni, Mombasa-1, solai,Nakuru-1 . The age of the infected are between 8 years to 73.

Nairobi has recorded 17 new cases, while Isiolo county has reported its first case.

There has been additional 7 new discharges meaning we now have 197 recovered while three patients sadly have been lost to the virus bringing the number  of deaths to 29.

On 6th may,2020, the government  locked down Eastleigh in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa due to a spike in Covid-19 cases. This was after Eastleigh became the area with most infections in Kenya with 68 cases while Old Town had 57 cases. Kenya’s total tally went up by a new high of 47, bringing the total to 582.

The cessation of movement into and out of these two areas is for 15 days. The CAS has cautioned those relocating from the locked areas stating that they will only spread the virus.
