Arsenal Set to Sign French Defender

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Reims FC defender Axel  Disasi  as Mikel Arteta looks to rebuild his central defense area that has been one of Arsenal’s weak areas in recent years.

The Gunners were interested in signing the 22-year old last January but a move failed to materialize as the offer they tabled was deemed too meager by the French club. With the player’s contract expiring in June 2021, his side is said to be willing to sell in the summer to avoid losing him on the Bosman.

The Frenchman is valued at 15 million pounds, a fee the Gunners are said to be willing to part with to get his services. Arsenal are likely to part ways with three of their current central defenders in the summer. They are; David Luiz, Sokratis, and Mustafi.

Arteta is said to be keen on pairing Disasi alongside William Saliba who the club signed last summer before letting him return to his former club Saint-Ettiene on a season-long loan deal. He has been impressive for his club, this season and Arteta will be keen on having him within his ranks next season.

The Gunners had earlier been linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano but the interest faded owing to the Bundesliga the side’s high valuation of the player.

The French defender is valued at around 80 million pounds and clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City are said to be interested
