Joho Gets Special Recognition from State over COVID-19 Management

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has received special recognition from the state after trailblazing the County-based fight against Coronavirus.

While other Governors have been appealing to their residents to heed state directives, Governor Joho has been spending time routing for solutions to cushion his constituents from the vagaries of the novel virus.

Of the efforts made, Joho became the first of the 47 Governors to avail a working disinfectant sprayer at the Likoni ferry crossing.

This came days after the Governor began fundraising from friends and institutions to provide food for Mombasa residents in the case of a County-wide lockdown.

The multi-million shilling kitty is set to result in a door-to-door distribution of food to the thousands of residents affected by the lockdown.

“We urge other counties to come up with innovative ways to complement the national govt’s efforts,” CS Mutahi Kagwe stated.

This he said after the confirmed cases rose to 172 following a test-run that involved some 696 people.

Out of the number, 14 people tested positive for the virus, seven of which were from Nairobi County, two from Mombasa and Mandera each, one from Kisii, Kisii and Kiambu each.
