South African Woman Escapes From JKIA Without Quarantining, Can Chloroquine Cure COVID-19? & Will the Stay at Home Directive Lead to a Baby Boom?

Good morning,

Unfortunately, there is nothing good we can say about this morning. It is a chilly Friday. The weather reflects the mood in the whole country if not the entire world. The country is mourning the death of the first COVID-19 patient who passed away on Thursday afternoon at the Intensive Care Unit of Aga Khan Hospital.

This is despite Health CS Mutahi Kagwe assuring Kenyans that all the confirmed cases are in a stable condition. A person in ICU is not in a stable condition.

There was also confusion on Thursday after Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya announced that the county had confirmed its first case of the dreaded disease. Later Health Cabinet Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi announced confirmation of only three cases confirmed in the previous 24 hours (between Wednesday and Thursday). Kakamega was not part of these cases?

Just how many Coronavirus cases do we have in Kenya? We also know that both Uganda and Rwanda have traced some of their cases back to Kenya.

Here are the stories making headlines:
