I Love it in Rome, Arsenal Midfielder Slams Club’s Style of Play

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he is enjoying playing for AS Roma compared his time with the Gunners

The Armenian joined Roma in the summer from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal and had been a key player for the Rome based club in recent months before the Serie A league was stopped due to the Coronavirus fear.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is enjoying his time in the Italian capital and says coach Paulo Fonseca’s style of play suits him best compared to former Arsenal manager Unai Emery’s style.

“When I was at Arsenal, I had different things asked from me by the coach, people were expecting different things from here,” he said.

“The philosophy of Emery was different from Fonseca, but here I’m feeling much better because we’re playing better football and I think it matched me”.

He went on to take a swipe at Emery’s tactics that were heavily criticized by fans. Fans severally lashed at the tactician for playing what they believed was boring football.

“I prefer Fonseca’s football because we’re playing very offensively, we’re trying to have the ball all the time here and of course I like this kind of game,” he concluded.

Mkhitaryan is keen on making his move to Roma a permanent one once the loan deal elapses in the summer.
