Babu Owino Sends Strong Message to Uhuru on Behalf of Panicked Kenyans

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has sent a passionate appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta on behalf of Kenyans, amid the coronavirus wave of panic that has hit the country.

In a social media post, Owino pleaded with the Head of State to scrap payment of several utility bills in order to cushion citizens from the looming economic crisis, as a result of drastic measures such as a lockdown.

Among the payments the controversial legislator wanted Kenyans to be relieved off is rent and power bills.

”It is my Prayer that HE. Uhuru Kenyatta suspends payments of water bills, rent for businesses and Electricity bills as Coronavirus continues to spread and destabilize business across the country,” the lawmaker stated on social media.

He further urged the nation to continue praying for divine help in the situation, which is still under control and to observe high levels of hygiene.

”Kenyans to Pray for God’s intervention and continue washing their hands to reduce the spread of coronavirus,” Owino added.

Already, the government has put in place measures to tame unscrupulous traders planning to hike the prices of essential products.

Speaking at State House on Wednesday where he met stakeholders in the banking sector, Uhuru sent a stern warning to exploitative traders, calling upon them to tap into their morality in this time of looming desperation.

“We will continue to take action on those traders hiking prices with no reasons just to make profits because it is criminal for you to use an unfortunate situation to enrich yourself,” the president asserted.

So far, seven cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country, with 11 individuals still awaiting their test results.
