Famous Kikuyu musician Muigai wa Njoroge alias Kigutha has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta is to blame for the recent friction in Kikuyuland.
Just like his previous hits, Muigai has a new political song, ‘Muri Mururu’ (Bitter/Bad Root) that is trending as number one on YouTube.
The musician urges the community to select another leader before it is late as “Uhuru has been compromised”. He says there is a bad root in House of Mumbi that ought to be uprooted, which his fans perceive the said root as Raila.

According to Muigai, the bitter root is causing division among the Kikuyu community, urging the Kikuyu Council of Elders and church leaders, to take matters upon themselves.
“In Kikuyuland we are fighting amongst ourselves because of an individual’s interests. This bad root dividing Kikuyus must be uprooted now. The problem in Kikuyuland is ours all and not of that family” he sings.
Asked on whether he will be doing more songs, the musician promises to keep his audience entertained as directed by God. “I speak the truth and I will continue passing the message according to what God wants me to,” he said.
The newly released song does not come as a surprise, as Muigai is known to spark controversy with a scathing song.
He has previously released political songs like ‘Kimendero’ (Oppressors) and ‘Tukunia’ (Sacks), which the musician called out President Kenyatta claiming that his followers’ hunger could not allow them to listen to him.
Many of his fans were in support of his work and below are some reactions:

This song by Muigai wa Njoroge is worth watching again and again. It has substitutes in English.
The bitter root must be UPROOTED! Kenya is a home to many not INDIVIDUALS. Its our time to speak out and say NO to the things that are separating our UNITY.@HonMoses_Kuria pic.twitter.com/5k5pcvEP7q— KOT AMBASSADOR (@Wamai_Njuguna) March 16, 2020
