How Security Guard Tortured UON Student to Death

A report police officers revealed how a guard from the Lavington Security group killed a student at the Univesity of Nairobi.

Elisha Otieno was beaten with blunt objects, strangled and dumped at Central Park in Nairobi onMarch 4. He died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Kenyatta National Hospital.

The suspect,  Spencer Kipkorir Kosgey is the head of the security supervisor at the institution. He was arrested on Wednesday as the main suspect in the case.

He was presented before resident magistrate DM Ndugi on Thursday. Kilimani Police officers asked the court to allow them to detain the suspect for 10 days in order to conduct more investigations.

The court granted the prosecution their request as the magistrate ordered his detention at the Industrial Area Prison.

The death of Otieno sparked violence at the higher learning institution on Monday evening.

In the event, a hostel was set on fire with students they have on several occasions raised concern over the high-handedness of the security guards at the institution.

The irate students claimed that the university had hired 15 security officers who operate in plain clothes.

Other than Otieno’s death female students in the institution have also lived their education journey in Fear.

Rape cases have been reported, some of which the administration claims to be negligence from the student’s side.
