1. You are having rough sex.
If you love rough sex, just remember there are consequences and one of them is developing a swollen vagina. The vagina is a very sensitive organ that needs to be treated with care despite wanting him to do it fast and rough.
According to Cleveland Clinic, the vagina swells because of the increase of blood flow down there. This happens due to the sexual arousals experienced. Some times it can go to the extent of bleeding little and the vagina changes colour to black o blue.
2. You are pregnant.
During pregnancy, there is an increase in blood flow and pressure from the uterus which makes the vagina swollen.
This happens because of the hormonal changes that occur when expectant. The body is experiencing a lot of changes and swelling is among them. To avoid the swelling, avoid standing for long and wearing tight jeggings or leggings.
3. You have a yeast infection.
Yeast infection is an infection found in the vagina and it’s caused by a fungus called Candida.
Some of the symptoms include; itching and irritation in the vagina and vulva, burning sensation, especially during intercourse or while urinating, redness and swelling of the vagina, vaginal rash and watery vaginal discharge.
4. You have an allergic reaction.

According to the International Society for Sexual Medicine, it was discovered that there is a semen allergy known as seminal plasma hypersensitivity. It is a rare allergic reaction to the proteins found in the semen.
It causes vaginal redness, swelling, itchiness, pain and burning sensation in the genital area.
5. You have sexually transmitted infections.
There are types of sexually transmitted infections that cause vaginal swelling.
They include; chlamydia and trichomoniasis. According to American College, chlamydia does not cause symptoms but affects the vagina by swelling.
Trichomoniasis is commonly known for causing redness, bleeding and swelling after sex.
