KPL Headache! Key Players to Miss Determining Weekend Clashes

The gruelling tussle continues as Kenyan Premier League enters its matchday 22 this weekend.

Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz and Tusker Fc are in the forefront for the title battle as they are separated by only six points. KCB are placed fourth with seven points away from the Kenyan powerhouse, Gor.

And as the fight continues to hot up, every team will be keen to bag maximum points to maintain the range or widen it. But there are various impediments that could change the course of the battle.

Key players are one of the greatest assets for every club during this desperate time. Unfortunately, some clubs will be gracing the weekend’s showpieces without crucial stars.

Gor Mahia vs. Western Stima

Gor Mahia will be in action against Western Stima on Saturday at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani from 3 pm.

While Stima may be regarded as underdogs in this clash, they stunned K’Ogalo with a 1-1 draw a fortnight ago during their league match at Kisumu.

The defending Champions will miss the services of their assistant captain Joash Onyango who is set to miss his second consecutive game after he was red-carded for a foul play in the match against the same team.

Western Stima, on the other flank, are not safe as they will play without their forward star Villa Oromchan, who was also sent off in the same match.

KCB vs. Bandari

The fourth-placed KCB will play host to a reeling Bandari, who are 11th on the log on Sunday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

The Dockers claimed a 2-1 victory over the Bankers in their last encounter, totalling to five wins in their last seven ties.

And it may be worse this time around as the Nairobi-based side will play minus their striker Simon Munala.

Tusker vs. Kisumu-All Stars

Kisumu All-Stars will be in search for their third victory of the season when they will be playing Tusker FC on Saturday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

But this could prove challenging as the Brewers are also seeking for a spot in the title battle zone against Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz.

However, the third-placed side have to find a perfect replacement for their defender Sammy Meja who was dismissed in their 1-1 draw against the moneybags Wazito FC.
