North Rift Leaders Vow to Block BBI Rallies in the Region (Video)

North Rift leaders have threatened to block any Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings in Eldoret if the tribal rhetoric being preached in the rallies will not cease.

Led by Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, the leaders said that the communities in Rift Valley have been living peacefully, but some politicians were trying to use BBI to separate them.

“Since President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto agreed to work together in 2012, we have seen tremendous harmony in this region. Even if these two go astray on this agenda, we as the leaders from Uasin Gishu have vowed to ensure that there is peace,” Sudi said.

“Therefore I urge Luos, Kikuyus, Maasais, and all communities in Uasin Gishu to feel safe because we decided that no bloodshed will be witnessed here again.”

The vocal MP also took a swipe at leaders using BBI to propagate ethnic profiling remarks as witnessed in Narok on Saturday and Kitui on February 1st.

“I want to announce here categorically that we will not allow any meetings if the BBI that they want to bring here is as we witnessed in Narok. I want to tell Ole Kina and his father (Raila Odinga) to find another region to take their BBI rhetoric,” he vowed.

“Here in Eldoret, we will not accept the BBI meeting to be done as the goal is to divide us on ethnic basis. We will never accept that.”

The MP also warned Uhuru and Ruto that Raila might be planning to take them back to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

“I want to warn Uhuru and Ruto, that this warlock is planning to take them to the Hague because he is very well known for his cunning behaviour since 1982. But I want to tell him that we as the people of Rift Valley will not allow any violence. Your last days to fool Kenyans with your incitements has come to an end,” he added.

“If there will be any meeting, we will be planning as led by our governor.”
