Real Madrid go Down in Valencia

Real Madrid surrendered their lead at the top of LaLiga to Barcelona after suffering a shocking 1-0 defeat to Levante on Saturday night.

Jose Luis Morales’s stunner 12 minutes from time is all the hosts needed to pick a vital win at home having beaten Barcelona earlier in the season.

Real Madrid started the match strongly fashioning a couple of chances. Luka Modric forced Levante keeper Aitor Fernandez into a fantastic save after being played through by Karim Benzema in the opening stages.

Eden Hazard, Toni Kroos, Marcelo and Isco all had a couple of chances in the first half but they failed to utilize the chances.

Having survived a first half onslaught, the hosts came fighting after the interval, Enis Bardhi came close in the early minutes of the second half but his shot went wide.

The clash slowly grew to an end to end affair with both teams showing their attacking intent.

Against the run of play, the hosts went ahead through Morales, who fired home with a second time volley into the roof of the net. Moments later, Raphael Varane, denied Borja Mayoral with a last ditch wonder tackle.

The main talking point from the match was Hazard who hobbled off in the second half with yet another injury.

The defeat sees Madrid drop to second in LaLiga behind leaders Barcelona who had earlier whitewashed, Eibar 5-0.

Next for Madrid is a home match against Manchester City.
