Aubameyang at The Double as Arsenal Spanks Everton

Arsenal FC came from behind to beat Everton 3-2 at the Emirates on Sunday evening in the process remained firmly in contention for a top-four finish this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the Toffees the lead inside the first minute with an acrobatic volley.  Eddie Nketiah then drew Arsenal level in the 27th minute with a superb move. Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then gave Arsenal the lead in the 33rd minute but the Gunners were pegged back when Richarlison scored the equalizer for Everton in first-half stoppage time.

The Gabonese forward then found the back of the net in the 47th minute for his second of the game and Arsenal’s third of the game. The strike proved to be the winning goal.

Arsenal got to a false start when in-form Calvert-Lewin found the back of the net in the first minute with an acrobatic volley. They had a couple of chance moments later but Alex Iwobi in particular guilty of throwing away opportunities.

The Gunners slowly but surely took control of the game and in the 27th minute, they were rewarded with a deserved goal when Nketiah fired home with a Thierry Henry-Esque finish from a Bukayo Saka delivery from the left flank. Three minutes later, Aubameyang latched onto a David Luiz through ball to give the hosts the lead.

Arsenal thought they would go into the break with a lead but they were denied in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time when Richarlison scored Everton’s second with Arsenal keeper Leno at fault for letting a feeble ball go through his feet.

A minute into the second stanza. Arsenal went ahead for the second time through Aubameyang who headed home a Nicholas Pepe delivery. The Gunners continued to dominate the clash creating numerous chances but they could not add to their tally and settled for 3-2 win.
