Murkomen Reveals Why he Missed Narok BBI Rally

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Saturday evening broke his silence on why he missed the Narok BBI rally that was held at newly renamed William Ole Ntimama Stadium.

Taking to social media to explain why he didn’t attend, Murkomen claimed that there was a plot to have Narok residents divided along tribal lines.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

“I made a personal decision not to attend the BBI rally in Narok because there was a scheme to divide people along tribal lines.

“I sympathize with problems affecting Kenyans In the 3 counties but I don’t believe the solutions lie in hating others. I believe in Peace, Love and Unity,” wrote Murkomen on Twitter.

The revelations came hours after the Narok BBI rally ended peacefully.

Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto missed the event despite having sworn that they will be a party to each BBI meeting.

Led by Murkomen and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, the leaders have attended the past meetings starting with Mombasa and Kitui though the two rallies turned dramatic.

The decision not to attend comes in the wake of accusations labelled against Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina who was accused of fuelling tribal conflicts through his utterances during Citizen Tv’s JKL show.

The leader slammed the Senator for sidelining the rest of communities living in the Maasai land in the build-up to the rally.

During the meeting, a host of Kalenjin elected leaders from the Maasai community did not attend after they protested the move by key Maa leaders to sideline them.

Earlier on, Murkomen condemned Senator Ledama for his remarks saying it threatened the well being of the country.

“I don’t agree with what Sen.Ladama said. It has the potential to undermine our peace. Having said that I don’t think he should be charged. Let’s be tolerant.

“One day this country will have a Malema. What will we do then? Leave Ledama alone if it was Moses Kuria we could charge him,” said Murkomen a few days ago.

Also, leaders from the Mt Kenya region including Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria also slammed the Senator.

According to Kuria, the utterances by Ledama prompted him to miss the meeting as a way of expressing his disapproval on the matter.

Nevertheless, the Narok BBI rally ended successfully with the overriding issue being the need to have policies in place that will guide on the proper use of the land.

The next BBI rally is set for Garissa on Sunday.
