(VIDEO) Angry Tangatanga Politician Scolds Jeff Koinange Over Lack of Objectivity

Renowned journalist, Jeff Koinange, on Wednesday found himself on the hot seat, after Kericho senator, Aaron Cheruiyot, went off on him twice, over his lack of objectivity, while hosting Wednesday’s edition of the JKLive show.

Cheruiyot, who was a guest at the show alongside Narok senator Ledama Olekina, accused the Citizen TV news anchor of failing to stick to the journalistic standards of neutrality, by belittling his opinion as an anti-BBI politician.

The lawmaker also called out Jeff for terming him as a DP William Ruto supporter, while probing for answers on the controversial Ksh39 billion Rashid Echesa scandal, into which DP William Ruto’s name has been dragged.

”I can see the brush that you want to paint me with…Why do you want to bring a rift between me and my party leader?” the senator asked, asserting that he was as much a supporter of Ruto, as he was of Jubilee leader president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The agitated senator, while addressing the issue of Echesa having gained access to Ruto’s office as part of his gun fraud scheme, further called out Jeff for seemingly taking sides on the conversation.

The journalist had termed Cheruiyot’s sentiments, that the DCI arresting Echesa outside Ruto’s office, was part of a well planned political narrative.

”Listen Jeff, and I want you to be neutral about this. You are trying to be, but you are not,” the senator told the perturbed host.

He went ahead to explain that nothing controversial happened during the time Echesa spent within the Harambee Annex premises, insisting that the DP’s staff were simply checking whether the ex-CS had an appointment.

”They were confirming, what is the problem?” the legislator said in defence of Ruto.

On his part, Ledama termed the scandal as a mere show of complicity by Ruto and his staff.
