Hall Backs Harambee Stars Striker to Flourish at The Club

Wazito FC head coach Stewart Hall has backed striker Paul Mungai Kiongera to bag goals for the moneybags after completing his switch to the club during the January transfer window.

The experienced forward was a deadline signing for Hall’s charges and will be tasked with easing the team’s scoring problems. Wazito struggled to score goals particularly in the first leg and the Englishman will be hoping that the forward rediscover his scoring form at the club.

Kiongera made his debut for the club against Egerton FC last Saturday in the FKF Cup at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru as the KPL side picked a 1-0 win to advance to the round of 16. He replaced scorer Augustine Otu in the 78th and showed some flashes of brilliance that once saw rated as one of the best forwards in the country.

In an interview, Hall admitted that the striker lags behind in terms of fitness but exuded confidence that he will hit top form once he is fully fit.

“I know Munga (Mungai) very well because I worked with him at Leopards. He is a very good striker but in terms of fitness he is not at the same level as the rest of the group,” he said.

The tactician further stated that the striker will continue featuring as a sub for 15-20 minutes until he is fully ready to play for more minutes.

“He is working very hard in training and we will keep giving him 15-20 minutes in our matches until he is fully ready, he will be good,” he added.
