DP Ruto Aides Sue Standard Newspaper over Fake Military Saga

Standard Newspaper is sitting in a precarious position after three aides of the Deputy President Dr William Ruto pressed charges on the media house.

The aides Farouk Kibet- DP’s Personal Assistant, Chief of Staff Ken Osinde and Private Secretary Reuben Maiyo had threatened the media house Monday morning but it wouldn’t budge.

The trio sued for defamation and injunctive orders on the publication, stating that they would be negotiating over the amount in damages to be footed by Standard.

After the lapse of a three-hour window, the aides preferred the charges against Standard.

The newspaper had ran a story on its Sunday edition claiming that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was pursuing Mr Kibet, Osinde and Maiyo in relation to the fake gun supply scandal.

DP Ruto has since stated that all his staff were out of the office on the material day when former Sports CS Rashid Echesa arrived with the foreigners at Harambee Annex.

He has also stated that Echesa never had an appointment with him during the Thursday visit and that he was working from his Karen office during the entire time of the planned heist.
