Deputy President William Ruto found himself yet on the wrong side of the ongoing case involving former Sports CS Rashid Echesa.
Ruto was roped into the scandal where a foreigner was defrauded Ksh 39 billion in regards to a military tender.
The DP finally broke his silence over the matter and remarked that he was innocent.
He further insisted that his political enemies were using the situation to smear mud on his name.
The angry Ruto pointed out that he should be left to do his work instead of being accused of false dealings.
In addition, the second in command seemed to have hung out Echesa to dry after he noted that the DCI should probe those involved.
The sentiments by the ex-URP head, however, received mixed reactions from netizens.
A section of Kenyans online were puzzled at how Ruto was distancing himself with the situation yet it took place in his office.

Mancini Mancini remarked, “HOW come you brush off this matter even before investigations are complete? Shouldn’t you be encouraging the DCI to execute thorough investigations so that the culprits are brought to book? Shouldn’t you be questioning your security detail on how fraudsters accessed your office?”
Another netizen identified as Mark Diema noted, “It is FACT that Rashid Echesa is Strong William Ruto Ally from Western Kenya, it isn’t by Coincidence that the documents were signed in Ruto’s office, It isn’t a LIE to say the Office hasn’t issued a statement denying Echesa or the Fraud.”
Miss Kenya articulated “It’s clear Achesa was operating on your behalf. It’s also true your daughter being a diplomat in Poland also aided much in the deal. You are going down bwana deputy president. You must go down.”

So @DCI_Kenya has been targeting DP with the arrest of Echesa but in court, they haven’t mentioned him. Uhuru has turned DCI and @ODPP_KE into propaganda machinery against DP Ruto.
There is nothing credible coming from the two offices. All politics.

Echesa was reported to have used the Harambee Annex to swindle the Poland international of the money.
The victim revealed that he was promised that DP Ruto would be present when signing the contract to offer security surveillance equipment to the KDF.
The complainant was later shocked after the deputy president failed to appear during the incident.
