This is after the High Court quashed a prayer by one Peter Adhiambo Agoro ran to the courts to stop Governor Sonko from appointing any deputy Governor or proceeding with vetting his deputy nominee.

This came after County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi sought legal interpretation on the legality of Governor Sonko’s decision to nominate a Deputy.

This, Sonko said, was to prevent a power vacuum at City hall after he was suspended over corruption charges.

Governor Sonko nominated Ms Kananu to be his deputy after working for two years without one.

At the time of her nomination, Kananu was a Chief Officer in Disaster Management dabbling as Water Chief officer too.

Governor Sonko was suspended from office after he was found to have questions to answer of the loss of at least Ksh350 million from the County coffers.
