Lee Njiru, a veteran communications officer of the late Former President Daniel Torotich Arap Moi has broken his silence following the saddening news of a man he labeled as a father figure.

The Late Former Vice President Daniel Moi.

For the avoidance of doubt, Njiru worked with the Late Moi since 1978 when he took over power after the death of Kenya’s first President, Jomo Kenyatta.

“I received the news early this morning. What I would like the public to know is that I am still the press secretary of the Late former President Moi. I have been with him from Tuesday 22nd August 1978…

“He has been like my father, my teacher, my leader, my mentor, he has guided me through life. He has protected me like an apple of his eyes.

“He gave me life skills. He took me to study tours in Britain. He has made me tour the whole world, love people and know how to live with people,” Njiru.

The Late Former President’s Press Officer also narrated how he has been unable to tune to a Tv station or read newspaper owing to misleading stories that had indicated that the former president had passed on.

“For the last two weeks, I have not been able to read a newspaper, watch Tv. I don’t know whether it was a feeling of premonition I was feeling tired the whole of this week.

“I think to speak the absolute truth, I think I know Moi better than anyone else and that is what I was employed to do. For the last 40 years I have been with Moi to the extent that I haven’t gone on leave,” he added.

Njiru also noted how the Former President contributed to his knowledge of how to live with people, relate with others and also entire life both financially and also in terms of moral support.

“Today God has declared his intention, from 1983 he has died 14 times as I have read in the newspaper that he has died 14 times but this is real death. I do not know whether I have to send a message of condolences because I am the bereaved,” said Njiru.
