Kenyan Premier League clubs have joined the rest of Kenyans in mourning victims of the heart-breaking tragedy at Kakamega Primary School where 14 pupils lost their lives.
The Monday evening incident saw 14 class 5 pupils succumb to injuries while two are in critical condition and currently in the intensive care unit in Kakamega. A number of other children have been treated in different hospitals for minor injuries and discharged.
The mood was somber at Kakamega Referral Hospital as parents thronged the facility to identify bodies of their children whose lives were cut short.
There as conflicting reports as to what may have caused the deaths. Some reports indicate that a teacher chased the pupils down the stairs leading to the stampede that caused the deaths while others claim that the pupils were running home in the evening leading to the unfortunate incident.
Kenyans have taken social media to express their sympathies and KPL Clubs too have mourned the departed children.
