Tottenham Courting Chelsea Striker

Tottenham Hotspurs are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of French striker Olivier Giroud as they seek a replacement for injured Harry Kane.

Kane is expected to be out of action for three months after undergoing a hamstring surgery earlier this month leaving Jose Mourino without an out and out striker heading into the season run-in where the north Londoners are battling to secure champions league football for next season.

A host of strikers have been linked with a move to the Tottenham Stadium. They include Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, Krzysztof Piątek of AC Milan and AFC Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson as Mourinho looks for more firepower upfront.

The latest player to be linked with a switch to last year’s Champions League finalists is Chelsea’s Giroud. Giroud is out of favor at Chelsea and was expected to move to Inter Milan although it now appears like he will not be moving to Italy after all. Crystal Palace were reportedly interested in the forward too.

Jose Mourinho now wants the former Arsenal man according to reports in France. The tactician recently admitted that his team is blunt in attack necessitating the need for new attackers in the team. The Portuguese tactician is reportedly keen on getting a short-term solution at the moment and in his 30s, Giroud perfectly fits the bill.

It’s however not clear as to whether the forward will be keen on joining Arsenal’s arch-rivals having turned out for the Gunners.
