“I used to read in newspapers and listen to the radio about you during the KANU days. The first Member of Parliament for Nyatike Constituency and one of the legislators who were a true definition of good debaters in the House.

“I thank the Almighty God that in the morning of my career (journalism), I was privileged to cover you among other members of the 9th Parliament, a house that had brilliant and astute debaters.

“Hon. Ogur was comical in the way he presented himself and argued on the floor of the house. A short but stout man has the sense of humour that left his colleagues in stitches.

Ogur was a four-time MP for Nyatike, in Migori County, after he served the constituency from 1988 to 2007.

He first won his seat with KANU at the time the country was a single-party state.

He later reclaimed his seat in 1992 through the Ford Kenya party but moved to NDP party during the 1997 General Elections where he won again for the third time in a row.

He won his last term in the Nationa Assembly with NARC party.

He was one of the outspoken MPs in parliament who moved motions and initiated a spirited debate with vibrancy it deserved.
