FA CUP: Manchester City Trounce 10-Man Fulham to Seal Fifth Round Spot

Manchester City progressed to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup with a resounding 4-0 victory over ten-man championship side Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Holders went into the game as clear favorites and lived up to the hype whipping Fulham. The championship side played over 83 minutes a man down after Tim Ream was given his marching orders for bringing Gabriel Jesus down the penalty area in the 7th minute.

Gabriel Jesus grabbed a brace for the Citizens while İlkay Gündoğan and Bernado Silva scored a goal apiece to help Pep Guardiola’s men ease into the fifth round.

City went ahead in the 8th minute through Gundogan who converted from the spot after Jesus was fouled inside the area. 11 minutes later, Silva made it 2-0 with a stunning goal in what was turning to be a tough afternoon for the former EPL side at the Etihad.

The Cottagers, however, managed to reorganize and started to defend solidly to avoid a rout from the marauding reigning English champions. It was not until the 72nd minute that City got a second goal through Jesus who added his second and City’s fourth of the match moments later.

Despite creating more opportunities, they could not score a fifth goal.
