Drama as Moses Kuria Heckled During Mombasa BBI Rally (VIDEO)

A drama unfolded at the BBI consultative meeting in Mombasa after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was confronted by a group of rowdy youths

In video footage making rounds on social media, a group of people were recorded heckling the MP  as he tried to fire back verbally.

It is not clear yet what transpired but the MP later moved to the podium and joined a host of leaders who had attended the meeting.

The confrontation came at a time when a section of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto made good their threat by attending the BBI meeting.

Among the leaders allied to DP Ruto who attended the meeting include Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, MPs Kuria, Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) Mohammed Ali (Nyali) among several others.

Senator Murkomen in his address said they were solidly behind the BBI and when asked on his stand regarding the referendum said he had no qualms supporting the referendum and added that they were solidly behind the BBI course.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Weangula were also present.

Besides 24 governors attended the meeting including all Governor’s from Coastal region save for Kwake Governor Ali Mvurya, Ann Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Ali Roba (Mandera) among several others.

Governors Waiguru in her address assured the coastal region that the Mt Kenya region was solidly behind the BBI.

Tens of other MPs also attended the meeting including Junet Mohammed (Sina East), Ali Mbogo, Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany), Fatima Gedi (Garissa Woman Rep), William Kamket (Tiaty) among several others.

Earlier on, a push and pull ensued after leaders from the Tanga Tanga political faction struggled to access the podium at the Mama Ngina Waterfront.

The Mombasa BBi meeting comes the third after the Kakamega and Kisii meeting that was held to consolidate the opinions of Western and Nyanza region on the BBI course.

The next BBI meeting is set to be held in the eastern region with both Governor Ngilu and Kalonzo plotting to hold different meetings.
